Gerd Wischers Foundation

The Research Institute offers the opportunity for young scientists to participate in and contribute to state-of-the-art research on the production and application of hydraulic binders. Fellowships are provided by the Gerd Wischers Foundation which was established in 1995 in recognition of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gerd Wischers, the former Chief Executive of the Verein Deutscher Zementwerke e.V. and head of its Research Institute.

The fellowships are granted to graduate and postgraduate scientists for research on clinker and cement production as well as the use of cement in concrete. The research sponsored under the fellowship must be carried out in the Research Institute of the Cement Industry in Düsseldorf, Germany. The monthly stipend will be between 1000 and 2000 Euro, with possible exemptions in special cases. The fellowships are tenable for two years. An extension is possible on request and is contingent on the progress of the project which has been achieved.

Applicants should send their C.V., a description of their education, and a short proposal for a project they would like to work on. The proposal should indicate the relevance of the project for the cement and construction materials industry. In addition, potential cooperation with certain universities or research institutions should be pointed out. Scientists willing to carry out research on quantitative clinker phase analysis (Rietveld refinement), modeling of hydration processes, environmental aspects of clinker production, or durability of concrete are especially encouraged to apply.

Applications must be submitted in English or German to the
